FAQs

You have questions and we have answers. Below are a series of the most frequently asked questions we receive. If you have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us. We’re here to help.

Physical Therapy sessions typically take an hour long, sometimes they can run a little longer depending on the specific body part or injury.

We typically schedule patients with one therapist and one Physical Therapist assistant (PTA), to be able to better accommodate patients’ schedules and time restraints. However, occasionally you will see an other staff member if the schedule is restrictive. If seeing one therapist is something someone wants to do, we can certainly do that!

We recommend wearing comfortable clothes (workout attire) and comfortable shoes! Remember that a Physical Therapist may need to gain access to the region of the body (Shoulder, knee, or etc). Please wear clothing that makes that reasonable and comfortable.

The copay amount differs between each patient and each insurance plan. We will let you know your copay amount upon your arrival of your initial evaluation. If you would like to know before you come into your initial evaluation, give our office a call and one of our front desk staff can assist you or you can call the number on the back of your insurance card for more assistance.

We screen all staff, patients, and personnel who want to gain entrance to our facilities each day. In addition, we clean our equipment after a single patient use. Patients, therapists, front desk staff, and our aides all must wear a mask during office hours.

We try to keep patients at a specific location for the duration of their Physical Therapy. If for some reason, a patient needs to switch locations (due to work schedule, daycare schedule, change of address, etc.) we can accommodate those needs!

Patients will speak in great length with the therapist about a Home Exercise Program (HEP) that they should be continuing to do on the days they don’t attend therapy and over the weekend, you will find out more about this at your initial evaluation. Continuing your HEP at home will strength your progress at therapy!

That’s okay! Patients can let the therapist and front office staff know what works best for them and their schedule. Patients will be given a Home Exercise Program (HEP) to continue to do on the days they don’t attend therapy.

CAO Physical Therapy accepts a majority of medical insurance. Please visit our insurance list to see if we accept your insurance!

Every patient and diagnosis are different. This will depend on your doctor and your physical therapists’ recommendation.

Both are licensed practitioners in the state of Maryland. Physical therapists go to school to receive their undergraduate degree and then attend graduate school. Physical Therapist Assistants get their associates, and work under the licensure of a Physical Therapist. A PTA cannot do initial evaluations, re-evaluations, or set up plan of care for a patient. However, both are skilled, experienced, and valuable clinicians in the CAO group.
